Taprobane Island sits just 200 yards off the Southern Coast in the centre of Weligama Bay - a 4 ½ hour drive south of Colombo International Airport or, for guests wishing to come by sea plane or helicopter, a journey that takes less than one hour.
The island is just a 30 minute drive south of the Southern Provinces capital, Galle - home of the historic UN World Heritage site of Galle Fort. Access to the island from the coast is usually made by wading through the surf on foot, or by some, on elephant or sedan chair! Amazingly, there is nothing between the island and the South Pole. Rather than traveling by road why not transfer directly from your international flight onto Air Taxi and arrive in Galle (Koggala airport) Koggala airport is only a 15 minute drive from Taprobane Island. or by Helicopter It is the ideal way to travel in style, comfort and luxury at an affordable price.
Taprobane Island was originally built in the 1920’s by the romantically named but self styled Count de Mauny-Talvande. The island with its neo palladian mansion has played host to kings, queens, presidents, prime ministers, aristocracy, writers and eccentrics, giving it a very colorful history, which guests can now share. The Island comprises 2 ½ acres of sheer tropical fantasy with nothing between it and the South Pole.
Accommodation is provided for in 5 en-suite bedrooms, with spacious living areas, balconies, verandahs, tropical gardens and a stunning infinity pool. A staff of 5 cater for your every need; in fact after arrival, guests frequently never leave the Island until their departure.

VILLAS IN GALLE FORT
With five bedrooms sleeping a maximum number of 8 guests, 20 Middle Street is probably the largest - and grandest - private house in the Fort. Having installed the ONLY legally permitted swimming pool with a wide sunbathing deck, in Galle Fort in a private residence and this is the ideal house to stay in, within the historic Galle Fort
The Dining table is set on the Verandah, and meal times at a time of your choosing. If you are a big party, we will happily set up the big table in in the Zaal. Or we can set the table on the Loggia in the Annexe Building, for a change of view!
There are five bedrooms – two in the Main House, two in the annexe and one in the Pool house - all air-conditioned and with en-suite bathrooms. One bedroom in the Annexe has twin beds (which can be made into a double), whereas all the other rooms have King szie double beds (except for the Pool House, which is a Queen size four poster). All rooms have hair dryers and wall safes, and there is complimentary wifi throughout the property
HABARADUWA HOUSE
ituated just 15 minutes from Galle, this 4 bedroom villa faces an extensive beachfront providing you with a panoramic views of the Indian Ocean- and with hardly a soul on it! What is more, you can swim in the ocean here - unlike many other places.
No expense has been spared to create this incredibly stylish and comfortable villa - witha full compliment of staff of a majordomo, cook, housekeepers and a gardener, guests do not have to lift a finger during their stay!
